Porthleven
I was drawn to painting about Porthleven because of its iconic clocktower and its unique double harbour. The starting point for the series was the cross of Saint Piran, taken from the Cornish flag. The first six paintings were built upon white wooden crosses fixed to the canvases. In nos. 5 and 6 the crosses were removed halfway through the process but their ghostly presence remains.
