I'm very excited to be included in this new publication celebrating contemporary Cornish Art, with an 8-page full-colour feature about my art and practice,
'This limited edition book is a celebration of the artists for whom Cornwall provides constant inspiration. Intriguingly current and timelessly readable DRIFT Art Review is at once a valuable tool for collectors, a coveted addition to coffee tables for the year ahead and a collectible for those who value the enduring appeal of the arts'

'It’s all just one big conceptual wrestle, and I could never get bored of it. The only thing that is certain is that the more we talk about art, the greater its force becomes, which makes this first Drift Art Review so important. Cornwall has so many talented artists, so many exceptional galleries, but so few publications to champion them, and the bridge between Cornwall and the city-centric focus of national art magazines is yet to be built.'

'A myriad of works by household names and emerging talent. The artists within this show are very special. Us, mere mortals would never be able to experience the joys which come from their abilities with the magical visualities of colour, shape, form, texture. This experience being what the show has always held as the core fundamental value to why we do it. Within the collection I hope you as the viewer have moments of familiarity as well as surprise, perhaps a work by an artist you recognise, a name you recall from a memory, an individual reaction to something totally new, catalysing a relationship with a previously unknown contemporary work or style. The carefully balanced selection from our ever more popular open submission alongside some of the most established names in their respective field, allows for each year to have an individuality and distinctiveness which could never be repeated or remade' Gallery Director, Myles Corley

The second exhibition by 'The Freedom in Painting Group', an accomplished group of artists from all over the UK and beyond, linked by participation on our courses in Cornwall.
PRESS RELEASE: 'Since 2011, renowned landscape painter and colourist Ashley Hanson, a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists, has hosted a series of courses in Cornwall, under the banner ‘Freedom in Painting’, attracting artists from all over the country and internationally wishing to push their practice forwards. In their response to the beautiful coastal landscape and harbour-towns of Cornwall - Porthleven, Port Isaac, Polperro, Polruan - each artist has found their own personal freedom in painting. The Group was formed for all participating artists to share work and exhibition news and to continue friendships. This impressive, contemporary, and eclectic collection of work brings the light and colour of Cornwall to Henley-on-Thames. Each of the twenty artists will be showing three paintings, including artist/tutor Ashley Hanson, who, as part of his teaching, produces a painting on each course. Admission is free to the gallery in Upper Market Place.
On Saturday 16 October, 1- 5pm, there is an opportunity to meet the artists and share a glass of wine. We would love you to join in our celebrations!
